Summary

Prof. Dr. Thomas Niemeyer’s interest in the treatment of scoliosis and other spinal deformities like kyphosis and spondylolisthesis began during his residency at the Orthopaedics Department of the University Hospital in Münster, Germany in 1995. Ever since, he dedicated his professional life to the scoliotic spine to become an international renowned spinal and scoliosis surgeon.

Since his latest move to the Asklepios Pauline Hospital in 2017, he has built a multidisciplinary team of experienced Neuro- and Orthopaedics surgeons that cover a large variety of spinal deformities in children, adolescents and adults. The team of spinal surgeons is equipped with the latest technology like MRI Scan, 3D imaging (EOS, O-Arm) navigation and neuromonitoring. In combination with his surgical skills and experience, this allows Prof. Niemeyer and his team to treat complex spinal deformities of all areas of the spine. The anaesthetic department runs a state-of-the-art ICU/IMC as well as a modern pain-management, that will give our young and elder patients the security and safety they need for quick and comfortable recovery from such life-changing surgery.

In his weekly clinics he advises patients on all aspects of conservative and operative treatment for spinal conditions. Since its foundation, the scoliosis department has become a centre where national and international patients seek help.
